PALLET GARDEN COMPETITION Results & WINNERS
Thank you very much to all those who voted and an even bigger thank you to all those who took part in this first ever Pallet Garden Competition.
We weren't sure what to expect but, oh boy, we weren't disappointed as everyone put so much effort into making their pallet garden beautiful and unique.
A few numbers:
- 22: the number of entrants (8 children groups and 14 adults/shops/pubs)
- 245: the number of votes we received
- 5: the greatest number of pallets in one location. At the Methodist Church where Playgroup , Brownies, Rainbows, Youth Group, Guides meet but also in the Mill Yard with pallets from Siddalls Plants, the Mill Shop, the Mill Restaurant, Arkwright Society and Quiltessential.
After counting and recounting the votes, we can now announce that the winners are...
Children Category:
Joint winners: Rainbows (pallet no 3) and Cromford School Infants (pallet no 9)
3rd: Brownies (pallet no 4)
4th: Playgroup (pallet no 7)
Adult Category:
Winner: The Greyhound (pallet no 15)
2nd: Arkwright Stores (pallet no 14)
3rd: Jenny Neely (pallet no 11)
Joint 4th: Siddalls (pallet 17) and Cromford Mill Shop (pallet 21)
We hope you've all enjoyed the display which, thanks to our pallet gardeners duly watering their pallets, is lasting far longer than the Celebrating Cromford week-end (a bonus compared to well dressing, many have commented!).
Thank you to Jon of Siddalls Plants and Crafts for kindly giving prizes to all the winners. Thank you also to all those who supplied, lined and delivered the pallets and to Celebrating Cromford for part-funding the event.
We are considering whether to have another Pallet Garden Display/Competition next year. If you're interested in taking part or have any comments, please email us at isabelle.chatfield @ gmail.com or action @ celebratingcromford.org (spaces added to email addresses to stop spammers)
