Where we're at going into 2014.....A message from our secretary:
Following on from the success of this year’s Celebrating Cromford weekend in June, we have recently enjoyed two further village events.
Apple day saw people bringing their bumper crops of this year’s apples to be pressed. CC organised an Apple pie competition and held a stall selling hot and cold food. Children enjoyed a variety of apple-themed games, and a new record was set for the longest apple peel competition!
The Lantern procession was an impressive affair this year. Earlier in the day, children had the opportunity to learn new skills in a circus workshop. Lots of villagers (both old and young!) made lanterns at workshops, based on the theme of ‘Houses”. A procession from outside the school, around the playing field, culminated with a spectacular, candle-lit fire show. Then it was down to the Community Centre for their firework display.
After Christmas, we will begin planning in earnest for Celebrating Cromford 2014, which will be held on Friday 20th - Sunday 22nd June. Always looking for new ideas, we’d like to invite anyone who’s interested to come to the next meeting on Tuesday 7th January, 7:30pm at the Methodist Church.
We’d love to hear your ideas to make next year even bigger and better.
We’re a friendly group who welcome everyone with fresh ideas. Teas and coffees will also be served.
To raise funds for CC, we’ve already got a great night planned. In March , we’ll be holding a ‘Race night’ with skittles, and will be serving a pie and pea supper.
Look out for more details nearer the time.
Finally, Celebrating Cromford has just purchased another marquee, which is available for hire (reduced rates apply for charities/good causes). It now also comes with a set of LED lights, if required.
For further information about Celebrating Cromford, suggestions or to hire the marquee please contact us via the contact form on this website
